How it's made
Each piece is hand-carved from a single block of ‘kerosene wood’ (Cordia subcordata) or Pacific Rosewood (Thespesia populnea). The carver shapes the wood with hand tools, then inlays pearl shell and/or contrasting wood into the design. The finished piece is polished and sealed with lacquer.
Authenticity & provenance
Every piece comes with a product tag stating the maker’s name and province in Solomon Islands, linking to this provenance page — your guarantee it was handmade by the named maker.

A word from Peter Kera
Meet Peter Kera
Munda, Western ProvinceWood Carving
“I carve because my father carved, and his father before him.”
In Munda we have always worked with kerosene wood — it is hard and beautiful when you finish it smooth. I make bowls and trays that people use every day. I like that something I shape with my hands ends up on someone's table far away.
